When you buy a KOBBA lamp, you also give a lamp to those who need it the most. Let’s shape a brigther future, where no one is left in the dark.

Spending countless hours on finding the best possible light for our lamps, we also got curios on how to make the greatest possible impact with the power of light. How could we make a brighter future with light?

Quickly we found that the biggest challenge is Sub-Saharan Africa. Today, 770 million people live without access to electricity and Sub-Saharan Africa’s share of the global population without access to electricity is 77%. Before COVID-19 it was 74%, so it is even going in the wrong direction for the region.

The negative impact of no light

This forces people across the region to cut their day short at around 6pm, with many relying on expensive, toxic and dangerous lighting sources such as candles and kerosene lamps.

This has a negative impact on every facet of life, trapping people in poverty. Children cannot study and do their homework in the dark. Hospitals operate in darkness. The use of kerosene flames are harmful to people’s health. And burning fossil fuels just to see at night harms the environment.

One of the solutions is solar-powered lamps for these rurals areas. That's why we've partnered with SolarAid, a leading charity that provides solar-powered lamps to communities in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Shaping a brighter future with the concept of “Buy One. Give One”

Our “Buy One. Give One” concept provides a source of light that enables children to study at night, clinics to operate in the dark, and communities to thrive with access to safe and sustainable lighting.

These solar lamps are a game-changer for communities that lack access to electricity, where families often rely on hazardous kerosene lamps for lighting, resulting in health risks, environmental pollution, and limited opportunities for education and economic development.

Impact on a family’s life

In its simplest form, the impact of one solar light to a family’s life in Malawi and Zambia is as follows:

  • All family members will have clean, safe light.

  • All family members feel safe at home.

  • 1 more child will study after dark.

  • A family saves $126 each year as families no longer have to buy candles, kerosene or batteries.

With our "Buy One, Give One" concept, every time you purchase a KOBBA lamp, you are making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. We will make it our commitment to make a positive social impact through our partnership with SolarAid. Together, we are working towards a brighter, healthier, and more sustainable future for communities in need.

Together, we can make a difference and shape a brighter future. One lamp at a time.
